Southern link road would bring huge economic and regeneration benefits to the Newark area

Newark Southern Link Road news

A £20m bid has been submitted to the Government’s Levelling Up Fund to complete work on the Newark Southern Link Road.

The project would link the A46 at Farndon and the A1 at Fernwood, providing smoother travel alongside the Newark bypass with an alternative route. There will also be an option to cross the River Devon.

New economy-boosting projects in Notts are to be put forward for a £12.6m slice of Government funding, including those aimed at helping more local people back into work following the pandemic.

Digital training courses, job retraining sessions and support and advice for small businesses are some examples of what these projects will offer.

New spine road set to open up £250m Mansfield development

Lindhurst development

Work is underway to build a new spine road paving the way for community and commercial space worth £100m a year to the local economy.

With nearly 400 of the first 500 homes now built as part of phase one of the Lindhurst Development, the second phase is now underway thanks to a £3 million grant from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership.

Members of the Transport and Environment Committee voted unanimously to approve the development of an enhanced partnership with local bus operators and to sign up to a statement of intent from 1 July 2021.
