Easter recycling

Over the years chocolate egg packaging has been a hot topic due to the high proportion that couldn’t be recycled. This is slowly changing with major retailers promising to reduce their packaging which is egg-cellent!

Show a little love to the planet - pick Easter treats with the recycling bin in mind so we can recycle as much as possible this bank holiday.

Around 80 million Easter eggs are eaten in the UK each year which generates around 4,500 tons of Easter egg packaging.

It's important we pick sustainably and recycle wherever possible. To help you recycle right this Easter we've put together a list of handy recycling tips and ideas.

Recycling centre update

Recycling centres are getting busier, especially at weekends which means queues are likely. So please be patient and avoid visiting at busy times if possible.

From 1 April recycling centres across Notts will be open 8am to 8pm daily.

If you visit a recycling centre PLEASE remember:

  • use your nearest centre
  • centres are currently open 8am - 6pm daily (from 1 April they will be open 8am - 8pm)
  • social distancing measures are still in place so you may have to queue
  • avoid queuing on main roads
  • sort your waste in to different types before you arrive
  • staff onsite will not be able to help you carry your waste except in emergency situations
  • avoid visiting at busy periods if possible, such as weekends
  • only registered vehicles can access our recycling centres
