Our winter heroes are here for you in all weathers
Every year we tell you that working in partnership with Via East Midlands, we are well stocked and ready for winter. While this year is no different, we're not just talking about our gritting teams.
For our drainage teams, heavy rain, storms and flooding can lead to a spike in demand for their services, and when high winds lead to fallen trees, it is our forestry team who will be called out.
As for our emergency response team, their 24/7, 365 days-a-year role can be easily impacted by adverse weather and could see them dealing with anything from managing road closures, to delivering sandbags and putting out flood boards.
Throughout winter, we will be showcasing our winter heroes on social media, so look out for #InAllWeathers!
Meet Clive. He's the Seasonal Operations Foreman at Bilsthorpe Depot and a member of our gritting team.
Clive and the team have already completed 13 gritting runs since going on full-time standby on 1 November and could be out at any time to keep Nottinghamshire's roads safe.
So, what's it like to be part of the team?
We went behind the scenes at Bilsthorpe with Clive to find out.

It's the question you ask yourself every year - what do I do when the weather gets bad and I need to travel? Our question to you is have you brushed up on how to drive safely in wintery conditions yet?
Whether it's snow, ice, rain, floods or high winds, winter weather can be unpredictable, so knowing how to drive to each condition is essential.

Knowing which routes we grit can help you to plan your journeys in advance during severe winter weather.
We grit A and B roads as well as major bus routes, which is around one third of our road network and totals roughly 1,120 miles - that's further than driving from Lands' End to John O'Groats.

Did you know that one of the best ways to keep yourself well in winter is to keep warm?
Approximately 400 people in Nottinghamshire die every year as a result of winter weather and its impact on their health. Many of these deaths could be avoided by people being more aware of the dangers and taking simple steps to keeping warm.

If there was a flood in your area, would you know what to do?
Would you know to move belongings upstairs should a flood warning tell you to act? Would you know what to put in your bag of essentials for use in an evacuation?
If the answer is no to either of these, why not take a few minutes to familiarise yourself with our flooding advice?
