Tier 3 restrictions

Today the whole of Nottinghamshire enters Tier 3 restrictions

As we move out of the national restrictions, the whole of Nottinghamshire must follow new Tier 3: Very High Alert rules. The new Tiers have been strengthened to reduce the infection rate as part of a strategy to save lives, protect health and care services, and keep our economy and schools open.

Naturally, with new rules in place, it can get a little confusing to remember what you can and cannot do. We've summarised what the new rules mean for you.

Restrictions continued

We should continue to follow these rules:

Meeting people
You can't mix with anybody you do not live with, or who is not in your support bubble, indoors, or in private gardens and pub gardens.

Pubs and restaurants
Hospitality venues such as bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants must stay closed, except for takeaway, delivery service, click-and-collect or drive-through.

Spectator sports
No public attendance at spectator sport or indoor performances and large business events should not be taking place. Elite sport events may continue to take place without spectators.

Entertainment venues
Indoor entertainment venues - such as bowling alleys and cinemas - remain closed.

Travel
Avoid travelling to other parts of the UK, including for overnight stays other than where necessary, such as for work, education, youth services, to receive medical treatment, or because of caring responsibilities.

Weddings and funerals
Weddings and funerals can go ahead with restrictions on the number of attendees – 15 people can attend wedding ceremonies, wedding receptions are not allowed, 30 people can attend funeral ceremonies, 15 people can attend linked commemorative events.

New changes

Here's a reminder on what has changed as we enter Tier 3:

'Rule of six' outdoors
You can meet in a group of up to six in other outdoor spaces, such as parks, public gardens or the countryside.

Shops and personal care
Shops, gyms and personal care services such as hairdressing, nail salons, tattoo parlours can reopen (if the premises are Covid-secure).

Outdoor entertainment venues
Outdoor venues including zoos, safari parks, theme parks, fairgrounds and funfairs, adventure playgrounds and parks can open. However, all of the indoor attractions at these venues must close.

Gyms and sports facilities
Gyms and sports facilities will be open for individual exercise and exercise in single households or support bubbles only. Indoor group activities and exercise classes should not take place. There are exceptions for indoor disability sport, sport for educational purposes and supervised sport and physical activity for under-18s. For outdoor exercise, the 'rule of six' applies.

Libraries
Inspire Nottinghamshire Libraries and Archives have re-opened from today. You may only visit alone, or with members of your own household or support bubble. Opening times may be subject to change, so check the Inspire website before you visit.

Stay safe over the Christmas period

Christmas guidance

Meeting friends and family

Nottinghamshire residents must follow tier 3 guidance in December. Between 23 December- 27 December, you may choose to form a Christmas bubble.

Visiting shops

You must not meet other people outside of your household or bubble in indoor shops or venues.

Santa's grotto

Santa’s grottos are able to open in all tiers where they are located in venues permitted to open. Venues should put in place appropriate COVID-secure measures, including social distancing.

Carol singing

Carol singing or carol services can take place if all attendees follow advice in the suggested principles of safer singing and guidance for the Performing Arts. You should maintain social distancing between groups or households at all times, including when entering or leaving the building or in any breaks.
