Recycle Week | 21 - 27 September
This year’s theme is ‘Together- We Recycle’.
If as a family, household, school, community group or charity you’ve been recycling, reusing, or re-purposing more - or wasting less, considering your packaging choices, using up leftovers or repairing broken things that previously would have gone to waste and would like to feature as one of our Recycling Champions we’d love to hear from you. OR better yet if someone you know is a recycling hero nominate them and let's celebrate recycling heroes across Notts!
We'll be sending out a special edition Recycle Week e-newsletter later this month packed with hints, tips, and activities to help everyone in Nottinghamshire recycle right and often. What's more we'll be launching a competition, so keep your eyes peeled on your inbox folks.
The daylight hours are getting shorter and Autumn is on its way, which means our recycling centre opening hours are changing.
From 1 - 31 October sites will be open from 8am to 6pm daily.
Please sort your waste into types before visiting, where possible, and allow plenty of time to unload your waste once at your chosen site as the sites may be busy.

Don't forget that a booking system is now in place at West Bridgford Recycling Centre!
No vehicles will be allowed access to the site unless they have booked a slot online.
The booking system was introduced on 1 Sep.
Please note to book a slot you will need to be registered to use our recycling centres.

Everyone who lives in Nottinghamshire (excluding the City) can put the same items in their kerbside recycling bin. Cardboard, paper, cans, tins, aerosols, plastic bottles, yoghurt pots and margarine tubs.
One common misconception is around takeaway packaging...
Pizza boxes, plastic tubs, foil trays - CANNOT go into the recycling bin. Please wash and reuse them where possible, if not put them into your general waste bin.
Want to know why we can and can't recycle certain items? Check out our recycling FAQs.

Could your project benefit from a grant?
From swap shop events to repair workshops, community gardens to food waste reduction initiatives and composting schemes...
...Schools, Community Groups and Charities can apply for grants of up to £1000 to help fund reduce, reuse & recycle projects across Nottinghamshire.
Applications close 28 September 2020!

Did you know 860,000 apples get thrown away every single day in the UK? This Apple and Blackcurrant fool recipe is a a tasty recipe and a great way to use up the windfall apples that are dropping from the trees across Nottinghamshire.
(Not sure what a windfall apple is? It's an apple that has fallen from the tree, it’s a natural process where the tree drops excess fruit to allow the remaining fruit to ripen successfully, it also refers to fruit that has fallen due to high winds or heavy rain)
