Understanding Test and Trace

Understanding the NHS Test and Trace service

When you visit a venue supporting the NHS Test and Trace service such as a pub, bar or restaurant every member of the party must leave their contact details. This helps trace close recent contacts of anyone who tests positive for coronavirus and, if necessary, notifies them that they must self-isolate at home to help stop the spread of the virus. Find out how the NHS Test and Trace service works.

Everyone can continue to play a part in helping to reduce the spread of infection by:

  • only socialising in any indoor setting with one other household at any one time
  • only meeting in a group of up to six people from different households in any outdoor setting
  • sticking to the guidelines around car sharing
  • self isolating immediately if symptoms appear and booking a free test by calling 119 or visiting the NHS website.

Staying safe this Bank Holiday weekend

Enjoy summer safely

With the Bank Holiday weekend ahead, we’re all hoping for some sunshine and looking forward to relaxing, seeing friends and family and enjoying ourselves. And while Bank Holidays are great for catching up with loved ones, we have to remind people that they need to stick to the government’s guidance about gathering in groups. In particular, only meeting indoors with one other household and meeting outdoors with up to six people from separate households. And maintaining social distancing. We appreciate that everyone wants to enjoy the weekend – we just want everyone to stay safe at the same time.

Back to school

Back to school

Almost September already! Schools are reopening for the autumn term next week. If you can, please consider walking or cycling to school, especially for short journeys. It will reduce pressure on public transport, ease congestion around schools. It’s also a good way to get exercise and it’s good for the environment too.

Schools may be in touch with details of their own arrangements soon, if they haven’t already, but we know you may still have questions about safety measures, hygiene, travel, and school meals. You can find out the answers to some frequently asked questions by clicking the button below.
