What's the best thing about fostering?
We asked our foster carers what the best thing about fostering is, here are some of their answers…
“Seeing smiles on faces, teaching our daughter about sharing and empathy. Offering new experiences.”
“We enjoy seeing the children enjoying themselves, playing and having fun. Giving them new experiences such as trips to the seaside, walks in the countryside, teaching them new skills.”
“Seeing a small gesture making a big impact on a child’s life (even if they’re not aware of it at the time.)”
“Making a positive difference - so rewarding”
“When you see the differences in behaviour of a child that first comes to you and when they leave, what they have achieved whilst being with you”
“Seeing a child begin to feel safe and relaxed”
“Making a difference hopefully, helping other full time carers have a much needed break to recharge. Spending time with some amazing children, having a full and busy house, getting out and doing great things, hearing their laughter.”
Overall, the most common themes in our foster carers' answers were...
- Making a difference to children’s lives
- Making a child smile for the first time
