There are seven steps to becoming a foster carer before you get your first placement.
These seven steps are designed to guide you through the process of becoming a foster carer, which takes about six months following your initial enquiry, so you won’t have a child placed with you the week after you submit your enquiry!
We take great care in making sure our foster carers receive enough training and have had the required checks before they have their first foster placement, and even then they continue to do ongoing training and have regular support from their supervising social worker.
Our foster carers are never left without support or training opportunities to help them with difficult situations, and we have an out of hours emergency contact for anything urgent.
Our aim is to make our foster carers feel as supported and well equipped as possible to look after our children in care and make their futures brighter.
