We are busy planning our calendar of events for the year ahead:

  • Invitations have been sent out for our bi-annual Long Service celebratory lunch.
  • The venue has been booked for Fostering’s Got Talent – this will be on Friday 15 May 2020 at the Create Theatre (further details will follow shortly but please put it in your diary!)
  • Our next fostering information evening will be on Wednesday 22 January at The Well in Retford from 6pm – if you would like to join us to talk to perspective carers please get in touch.

The next FLAG meeting will be Monday 2 March 2020 at 7.30pm at Friend’s Meeting House in Mansfield – all carers are welcome!

New training access

Training

All Nottinghamshire County Council foster carers and staff now have access to free online training and learning materials with Social Care Information and Learning Services (SCILS) and Education Information and Learning Services (EILS).

Please have a read of the registration details (which is very easy) and the information relating to the numerous courses they have on offer.

There are individual learning courses relating to working with children such as “Alcohol and Young People”, “Assertiveness Skills”, “Carers and the Law” and “Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.” These are PDF’s that you can download and read at your leisure.

My Learning My Career

The following courses are available to book via My Learning My Career. New courses are being added all the time and next month we will highlight some more courses with remaining availability to try and relieve some of the pressure of searching directly.

Information evenings

Information evening

Do you know someone who might be interested in fostering?

We have planned our next six months’ worth of information evenings around the county, so feel free to direct them to one of our events! We truly believe, that nobody recognises a potential foster carer like our great carers themselves, therefore we pay our carers a £50 referral bonus for anyone they refer to the recruitment team who goes on to be approved! Simply tell your friends and family to notify us that they were directed by you upon their initial enquiry to ensure you receive your bonus.
