Welcome to this first email bulletin about the Gedling Access Road which you previously subscribed to. This bulletin will keep you updated on all the progress and major developments until the new road is in operation.
The Gedling Access Road is a new 3.8km single carriageway that will link the B684 Mapperley Plains to the A612 Trent Valley Road.
Once complete, the new road will significantly reduce traffic travelling through Gedling Village and will help to unlock the potential of the former Gedling Colliery/Chase Farm site.
Main construction work on the Gedling Access Road is scheduled to begin on 6 January 2020 for 18 months and will mark the beginning of sustainable redevelopment in the area for future generations.
The link from the B684 Mapperley plains to the A612 Trent Valley Road is expected to open to traffic in Summer 2021 following the approval of the construction timetable at Nottinghamshire County Council’s Communities and Place Committee today (5 December).

We are holding two public events to give you the opportunity to find out more about the construction of the road and the people who will be working on it.
The team will be on hand to answer your questions and give you more details about what to expect from the construction and the benefits of the road.

A number of road closures will be required and regular updates will be issued to minimise disruption.
Here is what the 18 months of construction will look like:
January 2020 - June 2021 - Main works will take place to construct the Gedling Access Road.
July 2021 - September 2021 - Works to take place on Arnold Lane once the new road is open requiring the closure of the Arnold Lane/Mapperley Plains/Plains Road junction
October 2021 - All works completed
