As your local county council, we are your Lead Local Flood Authority responsible for managing flood risk in Nottinghamshire.

We work alongside partners to manage flooding from local sources, such as surface water and watercourses, and we are responsible for developing and applying a strategy for local food risk management across the county.

We’re working hard to help those most at risk

We are committed to taking an active role, working closely with partners and local communities, to manage flood risks across the county.

There are 18 schemes in progress, at a cost of £15 million, which aim to help those at greatest risk including engineered designs, natural flood management and measures to make homes more resilient to surface water flooding in the future.

Recent flooding incidents

We've attended a total of 56 incidents of flooding or fallen trees since 10 June, mostly in the Gedling, Southwell and Newark areas. In some cases the flooding was so severe we had to close roads. We also set up flood boards, provided sand bags, cleared blocked gullies, reset lifted manhole or drain covers and removed trees or branches from footways and carriageways.

Our Incident Response Teams were on-call throughout the night and we had additional staff members on standby to ensure that all reports were responded to within 2 hours. We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone involved for all their hard work!

It's important to take extra care when driving in wet conditions and if you see a flooding or drainage problem, please report it online.
