Draft Minerals Local Plan consultation

The publication of the Draft Nottinghamshire Minerals Local Plan is the next stage in the development of the Minerals Local Plan – the blueprint for quarrying and minerals extraction across the county until 2036.

The document sets out the draft list of site allocations to meet expected demand over the plan period along with planning policies against which future minerals development would be assessed against.

The Draft Minerals Plan recommends extending seven existing quarries at:

  • Bawtry Road Quarry, Scrooby, Bassetlaw. (Sand and gravel)
  • Scrooby Quarry, Scrooby, Bassetlaw. (Sand and gravel)
  • Langford Lowfields Quarry, near Collingham, Newark and Sherwood. (Sand and gravel)
  • East Leake Quarry, Rushcliffe. (Sand and gravel)
  • Bestwood II. (Sherwood Sandstone)
  • Scrooby Top. (Sherwood Sandstone)
  • Bantycock Quarry. (Gypsum).

And allocating three new quarries at:

  • Botany Bay, near Barnby Moor, Bassetlaw. (Sand and gravel)
  • Mill Hill, near Barton in Fabis, Rushcliffe.(Sand and gravel)
  • Woodborough Lane, Gedling. (Clay).

Have your say about the Draft Minerals Local Plan.

The public consultation is asking for comments about the suitability of the proposed site allocations as well as the plan policies. The consultation will close on Friday 28 September 2018.

Library exhibitions and Q&A sessions

An exhibition about the Draft Nottinghamshire Minerals Local Plan is available in the following libraries until Friday 28 September:

  • Retford Library
  • Clifton Library
  • Arnold Library
  • Ravenshead Library
  • Newark Library
  • East Leake Library.

 In addition, planning officers will be present for drop-in Q&A sessions at the following venues, times and dates:

  • Thursday 6 September, 3pm to 5.45pm - Clifton Library
  • Friday 7 September, 3pm to 5.45pm - Arnold Library
  • Monday 10 September, 2.45pm to 5.45pm - Collingham Memorial Hall
  • Tuesday 11 September, 3pm to 5.45pm - Ravenshead Library
  • Wednesday 12 September, 3pm to 6.45pm - Newark Library
  • Thursday 13 September, 3pm to 5.45pm - East Leake Library.

The Minerals Local Plan is a statutory document, which all Minerals Planning Authorities, like Nottinghamshire County Council, are legally required to produce.
