Free toolkit and training - Supporting Childcare Providers for the introduction of 30 hours

The Family and Childcare Trust has developed a free toolkit to support mixed model partnership approaches to delivering the extended free entitlement for three and four year olds. The interactive toolkit is designed to help childcare providers set up or join a partnership, maximise the benefits of working together and tackle the challenges joint working can bring.

The toolkit was developed following the 30 Hours Mixed Model Partnership project, commissioned by the Department for Education (DfE). Click here to access the toolkit.

Active support

Active Support Approach

The Council’s ambition is for all support provided to people to be ‘Active Support’: not only does Active Support help people progress towards greater independence but their support workers also get much better job satisfaction.  With origins in the field of services for people with learning disabilities, Active Support principles can be applied to anyone who needs support. Here is a link to one national organisation who describes their approach to Active Support.

Annual Childcare Costs Survey

The Family and Childcare Trust collects statistics about childcare costs and availability in Britain. The data collected from local authority Family Information Services makes it possible to monitor changes in childcare costs and supply from year to year.

The reports are widely used by policymakers and academics in all parts of the UK and beyond - another good reason for childcare providers to keep their FIS up to date with their details. The latest report is due to be published in February 2017.
