Recycle Week

The Unusual Suspects
Now in its 13th year, Recycle Week (12-18 September) is a national celebration of recycling, with this year's theme being 'The Unusual Suspects'. The aim of the week is to encourage people to think about all those items that often get forgotten about when recycling at home like empty aerosol cans, shampoo or conditioner bottles, dishwasher tablet boxes or cardboard tubes.

Have you registered your vehicle yet?

You now need to be registered to use any of the county's recycling centres. It's free and easy to do. Don’t get turned away! Do it today! You can register online by visiting www.nottscc.gov.uk/registertorecycle or by calling the Customer Service Centre on 0300 500 8080


Compost Bin

Autumn Home Composting

Start composting at home and pick up a great buy one get one half price offer on your own home composter. 
Seasonal Tip – Fallen leaves, prunings, dead plants and flowers are great material to feed the compost bin this Autumn. Using a lawnmower to shred up fallen leaves or hedge cuttings is a quick way of collecting this material and will help to speed up the composting process. Don't forget that cardboard and shredded paper can also be added to your compost bin.

Get Crafty with Recycling - Free Workshops
Thursday 27th October (9am -12.30pm) & (1pm – 4.30pm) 

Friday 28th October  (9am -12.30pm) & (1pm – 4.30pm) 

Book your place at one of our recycling creative days at the Materials Recovery Facility in Mansfield (NG19 0FL) where we'll be making some goooulishly good upcycled items and learning more about Recycling in Nottinghamshire. Halloween Craft Workshops - Make milk bottle ghost lamps, trick or treating bottle monsters and old book pumpkins.


Community RePaint

Pick up Free Paint 
Community RePaint Nottinghamshire gives away free reusable donated paint to community groups throughout the year but occasionally the scheme is open to Nottinghamshire residents too. If you'd like to pick up some free paint, call Nottinghamshire County Council on 0300 500 80 80 to reserve a slot between 4pm - 6pm. Pre-Booking is essential. Thursday 15th September at Calverton Recycling Centre, NG14 6NR, Tuesday 20th September at Warsop Recycling Centre, NG20 0JG.

On average, each person throws away their body weight in rubbish every seven weeks! Make sure that you know the full range of items that you could recycle in your home recycling bin or at your nearest bring site or recycling centre.

Recycling Centre Closing times
As the summer daylight fades and the nights draw in, the opening hours at Nottinghamshire’s Recycling Centres will change due to the reduction in daylight hours. From the 1st of October the Recycling Centres will open at 8am as usual, but will close at 6pm until the end of October.
