Welcome
to the first quarterly edition of the Notts Help Yourself Provider e-bulletin. The bulletins will let you know about new developments on the Notts Help Yourself
website as
well as providing information about training opportunities, contract news and legislative
changes. If you need more information about these stories or would like to
contribute something to a future edition please email nottshelpyourself@nottscc.gov.uk
Re-tendering
Open Objects have been
awarded the contract to continue to host the Notts Help Yourself website. We
will be working with Open Objects over the next few months to both refresh and
enhance the website. The website address will remain the same and if you are
already registered you won’t need to do anything beyond ensuring that your
existing information remains up-to-date.
Recent
developments
- Users,
please let us know what’s missing from Notts Help Yourself. These might be
services that are already being used but don’t yet
appear on the site, or where you or someone you know has identified that they need something
that they cannot get hold of/the service doesn’t seem to exist. We can
then work with you to try and help
develop the services that will fill that gap.
- In
October 2015, a ‘rate and review’ function was added to the
Nottinghamshire Help Yourself site. This operates in a similar way to TripAdvisor and Amazon. Users can give a
star rating and provide comments on services that they have used.
Providers will be notified via the email address they have registered with
on Notts Help Yourself each time feedback is posted and they will have an
opportunity to respond to the feedback so that both the feedback and their
response is posted on the site at the same time. Rate and Review is not a mechanism for making
complaints and users will be required to agree to abide by the site Terms
and Conditions before being able to post anything.
A new Workplace Health Channel will launch in April 2016 to help
providers to improve the health and well-being of their staff.

Childcare
providers
Are
you a childcare provider? We are urging all childcare providers to ensure we
have your correct contact details. You can update your details online or by calling the
Families Information Service on 01623 664960. The information will be used when
we need to contact you, to help map the supply of childcare to demand, and
identify areas where childcare provision needs to be developed in the future.
Did you know that if you
are a registered Childminder, a leader of a nursery, pre-school playgroup, or
parent and toddler group you can borrow up to 36 items (books/spoken word for
free, a small fee applies for DVD loans) from your local library for up to 12
weeks? There will be no fines or charges for damaged items either. What’s not to like? There’s also an array of
children’s activities, and events happening in libraries on various days and
times throughout the year. See a list of timetabled
activities.
Groups can also arrange to visit the library. To organise a trip please contact your local
library.
SEND
Local Offer
In
September 2014 Local Authorities in England became responsible for
publishing information about the services and provision available in their area that
are made for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and
Disabilities (SEND), who are aged 0-25 years. This is known as the ‘Local
Offer’.
There
are now over 1,600 Local Offer services listed within the overall
Nottinghamshire Help Yourself database. We continue to encourage new providers
making provision or offering services to children and young people with SEND
and their families, to register their information with the Local Offer. If you are
already registered, please regularly review your information and ensure that it
remains accurate and up-to-date. Click here for more
information.
A
series of short films explaining how to get help with using the Local Offer, have been added to
the SEND channel’s home page (click
here to see these). They offer background information about what the Local
Offer is and how it is intended to support children and young people with
special educational needs and disabilities.
The
Mid-Nottinghamshire Self Care Hub
A new free service offering
self-care advice to the public has opened in Mid-Nottinghamshire. The Mid-Nottinghamshire
Self-Care Hub is a ‘one-stop-shop’ for public and professionals and is designed
to connect local services to help you access self-care support. For more
information visit www.nottshelpyourself.org.uk/selfcarehub
Provider
Corner
From
April 2016 we will be launching a ‘Provider Corner’. This is the name given to a section of the
website dedicated to helping you develop
your current business, support you to develop an idea for a new business
venture and help work together to build a bigger and more diverse economy across
Nottinghamshire. If you are registered
with Notts Help Yourself, you will be able to access a range of different
support tools. These will include templates for key policies that you can
download and adapt for your own business. There will be alerts highlighting the release of new tenders that you
might want to bid for, hints and tips
from the Procurement team highlighting things to think about when completing a
tender submission and we are also planning to develop an interactive provider forum so providers can
post questions and get help and advice from other providers and stakeholders
relating to their business.
We need your views and
opinions on how you would like the Provider Corner to function and will run
working groups to design and develop this. If you are interested in being part
of this group please email nottshelpyourself@nottscc.gov.uk
