Don’t miss out on signing up for the garden waste collection service for 2025/26

Please note that our Garden Waste phone lines are not yet open, but you can apply on our website via our online form.

We know that everyone is busy and as a valued member of our garden waste service last year we don’t want you to miss out on re-joining for collections during the 2025/26 year.

If you have re-joined in the last few days; thank you for re-joining and please disregard this email.

If you haven’t had time yet, we are pleased to confirm that the cost of collecting your garden waste is to be frozen for the year 2025/26 with just a small increase on the cost of purchasing any additional bins.

A summary of the charges for 2025/26 are:

Collection of first bin - £45

Collection of addition bins (up to a maximum of four) - ÂŁ8 per bin

Purchase of an additional brown bin - ÂŁ47

We appreciate that household budgets remain tight but we hope that this confirmation of the collection price freeze will come as welcome news, especially when the collection of one bin will still cost less than ÂŁ2 per collection. We therefore invite you to re-join the service and sit back and relax while our teams collect your garden waste for you.

The collection period will run from 24th March 2025 – 20th March 2026. We empty your brown bin(s) every other week, except during December and January when the frequency reduces (or when other factors stop us such bad weather or service disruption beyond our control). To benefit from this seamless service, we advise you re-join before 20th March 2025. If you re-join later than this date it may impact on your first collection, as it can take 48 hours for customer details to be registered before the collections can start.

May we also draw your attention to a change to the Terms and Conditions which requests that bins are placed out for collection by 6.30am on collection day.

To re-join for 2025/26 – visit our Garden Waste webpage and fill in the form.

If you’re re-joining for 2025/26

  • Please do provide us with an email address so we can send waste collection information directly to your inbox. Over the last few months customers have told us how valuable they found it to receive information on all things relating to waste collection.
  • Would you like us to send you a reminder email the evenings before your collections? Head to www.n-kesteven.gov.uk/FindMyBinDay to search for your address. Underneath your upcoming bin days, you'll find the option to “sign up.”
  • Please refer to the terms and conditions of the service contained in this correspondence. By agreeing to pay for the service, you will be accepting these terms and conditions of use.
  • After we receive your payment, we will send you a welcome pack letter that will include your 2025/26 sticker(s) and collection calendar. You can expect to receive this before the end of March 2025.

If you’re not re-joining the service

  • If you’re not re-joining then there is nothing further you need to do; your collection will cease after your last collection in March 2025. Please however, keep your brown bin in case you decide to re-join later.
  • You cannot dispose of garden waste in your black bin, so if you choose not to re-join, you will have to make other arrangements. The alternatives are to compost at home, take the garden waste to a household waste recycling centre (HWRC) or for a licenced waste carrier to collect it. See our fly tipping webpage for a handy receipt tool to help you ensure the carrier you use is legitimate and won’t simply dump your waste as fly tipping.

We hope that you will continue to think that this Council service is good value for money and will re-join with us. If you experience any problems, then please email customer_services@n-kesteven.gov.uk or contact us on 01529 414155.

Terms and conditions of the service

1. You have agreed to pay North Kesteven District Council to collect garden waste that has been placed in your brown bin. The period of collection for this payment shall run from 24th March 2025 – 20th March 2026. If you decide to purchase the service part-way through the year, then the cost will still be £45 for the collection of one bin, £47 for the purchase of any additional brown bins and £8 for the collection of each additional bin, with payment being due again the following March.

2. If you move out of the district or stop using the service for any reason, we will not give a refund. If you wish us to remove your brown bin(s) please email customer_services@n-kesteven.gov.uk or call us on 01529 414155.

3. If you move to another address in North Kesteven, you can take your brown bin(s) with you. However, to ensure that your collections continue you must contact us to transfer the service to your new address.

4. We will empty brown bins every other week except during December and January, when the frequency reduces, or when other factors stop us, such as very bad weather or service disruption beyond our control. We recommend that you refer to your collection calendar for detail. Your brown bin(s) must be only used for garden waste from your property. Please ensure your bin(s) are placed out for collection by 6.30am on their due day. We cannot return to collect a bin which is presented late for collection. This applies to all bins and all collection days.
