The grand finale of this year’s RiverLight Festival took place in Sleaford on Saturday, and many people managed to enjoy it together as planned despite some heavy rainfall beforehand from Storm Babet.
Sleaford was filled with exciting art installations, performances, live music, heritage and more. Some of the live theatre traversing through the town included giant trees and a 13-foot-high sea-themed puppet, lost explorers on camels asking for directions, and more.
The day drew to a close with a Song for Sleaford followed by light installations, and there were great opportunities to eat and shop throughout, including deals from local businesses. It was a great demonstration of creativity and community spirit!
It also contained an entire eco-village at Church Lane Primary School including a fantastic pedal-powered cinema and accompanying songs from its climate-minded pupils, a clothing swish encouraging re-loving of preloved clothes, a creative workshop, and stalls promoting how we can live more sustainably and look after our natural world including lots from the Council on how we can Act On Climate to help North Kesteven get to carbon net zero by 2030.
Follow @riverlightfestival on Facebook and Instagram for a recap of this year's festival and to stay tuned for 2024!
The RiverLight Festival has received £77,000 from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This money has been distributed by North Kesteven District Council, under the Events Programme
