Every year we look to include and celebrate great examples of community consideration shown by our businesses by honouring them through our NK Community Champion Awards.
And so, whether through self-nomination or encouraging expressions of enthusiasm from customers, we’d love to hear more about your community-minded businesses activities – either through the generosity of what you do in supporting local endeavour and activity, or maybe in support of a specific aspect of voluntary action, perhaps through sponsoring or facilitating climate action, sports, arts, health, wellbeing or community safety for instance.
Take a look at the full list of categories HERE, where you can nominate too. The deadline for nominations is September 18.
The awards are only made possible through the generous support of other community-focused businesses committed to serving the community of North Kesteven and making a positive difference. If you want to join in the celebration as a sponsor we’d love to hear from you – email communications@n-kesteven.gov.uk.
Have your say and let the government know what you think by taking part in the Quarterly Economic Survey (QES) for Q3 2023.
The QES is the largest independent business survey in the UK and a significant economic indicator. It is also the first economic indicator of the quarter, published in advance of official figures and other private surveys, and it consistently mirrors trends in official data. The survey takes less than three minutes to complete, you can take part HERE.
The Government has announced a ban on a wide range of plastic items that will come into effect from 1 October 2023. It means that from that date, businesses across England will not be able to buy or sell certain single-use plastic items.
The ban includes all single use plastic cutlery, trays, plates, bowls, and balloon sticks, as well as certain types of polystyrene cups and food containers.
From October, people won’t be able to buy these products from any business. The ban will apply to online and over the counter sales and includes the supply of items by businesses from new and existing stock and will cover all types of single-use plastic.
How to prepare for the ban:
- use up existing stock before 1 October
- find re-usable alternatives to single-use items
- use different materials for single-use items
For more information on the ban, including exemptions, you can view the official guidance HERE.
