Strong winds & rain expected this weekend
 Severe weather can have an impact on utilities and can cause power cuts.
Western Power are the electrical distribution network for the Midlands, South West and Wales and deliver electricity to over 7.9 million customers over a 55,500 sq km service area.
Western Power are different to your energy provider in that they are responsible for the movement or distribution of electricity around the country - your provider is who you pay for your electricity.
Power cuts can happen for a number of reasons. We know this can be particularly worrying if you rely on electricity for medical equipment, if you are elderly, very ill or disabled.
We advise you join the Western Power FREE Priority Service Register
The Priority Services Register is free to join. It helps energy companies to look after customers who have extra communication, access or safety needs.
Through this you will:
- be given a direct number to call in the event of a power cut,
- agree a password with them before they visit, so you feel safe,
- be provided with special help, if needed, through the British Red Cross,
- be informed about planned interruptions to your electricity supply;
- kept as informed as possible in the event of an unplanned power cut.
Western Power also have an agreement with the British Red Cross which allows them to attend large scale emergencies and support customers without power.
The link below will take you direct to the Western Power website where you can obtain further information and sign up to their register if you feel it would benefit you.
Please feel free to share this with family and friends.
Regular updates can be found on Twitter @wpduk and also live power cut information is available via the power cut map.
If you experience a power cut or spot anything dangerous which may affect the electricity network, please contact Western Power anytime.
