Marine Drive, Ilfracombe closed to through traffic

Just a reminder that Marine Drive in Ilfracombe will be closed to through traffic from 1 June onwards while the new community watersports centre is being constructed. Please share this information with anyone you think might be affected by this.

• Works are due to start on 1 June 2021 and will continue until July 2022
• During the course of the works, a section of Marine Drive will be closed, meaning through traffic cannot pass, some of Marine Drive car park will remain open.
• Larkstone car park will remain open
• A signed footpath diversion will be in place from the Coastal Footpath, either up and over the steps into Larkstone Car Park; or up and around Larkstone Lane.
• There will be no access to the sea from the existing slipway and no access from the sea to the landward side.
• The 'mushroom' car park at the top of Marine Drive will be closed for car parking and become a secure works compound for the construction contractor.
