During the coronavirus pandemic, criminals are still looking to exploit financial and health concerns by asking for money for fake services upfront, collecting personal information or bank details, or offering temptingly high returns on made-up investments or pension transfers.
We have been made aware that some residents have received emails like the ones above claiming to be from official Government departments. Please do not click on any of the links in the email which will ask for your card details.
Once they have your card details they can take money from your account.
Always check the email address that the message has come from, if it is not from northdevon.gov.uk or from gov.uk then it's very likely to be a SCAM.
If you are in any doubt of the authenticity of a call, email or text concerning your council tax account, please contact us on 01271 388361 or email counciltax@northdevon.gov.uk.
A suspected incident can be reported to Action Fraud 0300 123 2040.
