Services update
Our bins and recycling services are currently running as usual but we anticipate this changing as the pandemic continues. We will keep you up to date with how any changes will affect you.
We will shortly be closing our public reception area at Lynton House in Barnstaple in light of the government's tightening guidance on social interaction. We are installing a video phone on the wall for urgent cases but we are urging people to use other methods to contact us. The easiest way is via our self service portal on our website.

We've set up a new area of our website dedicated to letting you know where you can find help in your community.
We've been astounded by how local communities have pulled together to support the vulnerable and elderly in their communities.
This information includes local food deliveries, takeaways, prescription deliveries, telephone befriending, shopping trips and much more. We hope you find it useful and please let us know if you know of anything going on in your community that we may not know about and we'll add it to the website.
As you may be aware, the government is writing to 1.5 million people who are most at risk from the Coronavirus and they will be advised to stay at home for 12 weeks. We have very little guidance on this yet so we are advising:
- If you have been identified as being at risk then you will receive a letter from the NHS within next few days it will tell you what you or your carer or family member should do and how you can register for support
- The letter will say that from Tuesday 24 March you will be able to register for additional support for getting food, basic needs and prescriptions delivered
- Don’t worry arrangements are being put in place to help you to get what you need in a safe way either through the government, your local council and pharmacy
- Local agencies may contact you in the next few days to check if you have specific requirements that can be supported locally
The government has launched a dedicated business support website. It contains information on loans, business rates holidays, grants, sick pay rebates, VAT deferral and more.

We’ve had to close the main bus station building down as customers are ignoring social distancing and sitting too close to each other in the waiting room, although bus services are running as normal as far as we know. |
