Job Vacancy: Crematorium Technician/Chapel Attendant/Gardener37 hours per week, permanent contract Salary: £19,554- £23,836 per annum
We have a rare opportunity for you to join North Devon Council as a Crematorium Technician / Chapel Attendant / Gardener. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain and operate the cremation equipment ethically, efficiently and in accordance with legislation and local instructions. You will be responsible for carrying out the process from receipt of the coffin to final preparation of the ashes. Full training will be provided for this specialist post, although previous experience of working in a bereavement environment will be advantageous. Chapel tasks will include managing chapel operations, operating the media system, greeting mourners, cleaning and preparing the chapel and assisting Funeral Directors with the smooth running of the Chapel. Additionally you will be asked to prepare the ground for interring cremated remains, attend memorial services and witness the placement of cremated remains. You must have the confidence to manage stakeholders at the Crematorium while providing support for the bereaved. Gardening tasks will include DIY/general maintenance, working outdoors in all weathers, burying of ashes, assisting visitors, cleaning and maintaining the grounds/buildings of the Crematorium to the highest possible standard, operating garden machinery and routine tasks such as digging, weeding, moving garden materials, pruning, leaf clearance etc. You will need demonstrate an understanding of the roles and have:
