We need your help!

We are looking at ways of improving our customer service. To do this we need to know what you think of us, our service, and how we could improve…. (*not just us in the grants team!)

We will be undertaking a huge customer survey in the New Year and would be very grateful to anyone who could spare us the time to take part.

It will involve answering some questions via our online survey. We don’t know how many questions yet (and we have yet to write it!). If you would be happy to take part please could you let us know by emailing us at grants@northdevon.gov.uk

We will then email you in the New Year to let you know once the survey has been published and let you know of any future surveys as they take place (and of course you can email us at any time to be removed from the list).

We look forward to hearing from you - Kate & Aurienna

The Climate Action Fund - initial proposals deadline 18th December 2019

Grants of up to £2.5 million for UK based community-led projects that will have the greatest positive impact on climate change.

The National Lottery Community Fund has launched this new 10 year grant programme that aims to support community-led initiatives across the UK that will reduce the carbon footprint of communities. Capital funding will be considered if partnerships can demonstrate how it might facilitate behavioural change and broaden participation, and how capital funding might unlock additional investment from other sources.

The programme is seeking place-based community-led partnerships that bring together a wide range of people and organisations with a shared vision of what local climate change action should look like. Other than voluntary and community organisations, partnerships could include the environmental sector, schools, statutory agencies, as well as the private sector. It is expected that partnerships will include smaller grassroots groups and larger organisations. Partnerships will be required to have an agreement about how they will work together.

It is anticipated that the inaugural round of the programme will support up to 15 community-led projects across the UK.

Activities may include action on sustainable energy, sustainable transport, consumption (food and waste), and the natural environment, or a combination of several issues that will make a positive impact on climate change.

Grants can be used for:

  • Staff salaries and running costs
  • Project activities Engagement activities
  • Learning and evaluation Equipment
  • Organizational development
  • Some capital costs

Further information on how to apply and eligibility criteria can be found on the National Lottery Community Fund website, https://www.tnlcommunityfund.org.uk/funding/programmes/climate-action-fund#section-1

Community Gardens Award – National Open Garden Scheme

National Garden Scheme Community Gardens Award provides funding to amateur gardeners from community groups in England and Wales to create a garden or similar project (such as an allotment) with horticultural focus for the benefit of their local community.

These projects should aim to bring a community together by being a space people can share, by the acquisition and sharing of gardening knowledge and skills and by inspiring a love of gardening.

All applications are considered on their individual merits by a panel made up of the supervisor, a trustee and a vice-president. No fixed amount is set but awards do not usually exceed £5,000. Funding could cover, for example, site preparation (including hire of small mechanical tools such as rotavators), hand tools, plants, trees, shrubs, containers and seating.

The aim of this small charity is to provide financial support to individuals who wish to travel abroad or in the United Kingdom to attend a conference, to pursue a research project or undertake a short course of study in the field of movement or dance. Applications are welcome from UK residents aged over 18 irrespective of nationality, gender or previous training.

Set up in memory of Lisa Ullmann, since 1987 the Fund has awarded travel scholarships to help people to pursue an extraordinarily wide range of projects. The diversity of the projects realised and the consequent communication between different sectors of the dance community world-wide is very much in tune with Lisa Ullmann’s own life and work. She was a distinguished teacher of movement and dance, whose unique work contributed to the dance education of countless students, dancers and teachers.

LUTSF supports individuals working in all areas of movement and dance who wish to travel in order to enrich their professional practice. Applications are welcomed from choreographers, performers, lecturers, teachers, writers, therapists, administrators, producers and related professionals. The average scholarship in the last few years has been around £600.

Completed applications will be required by 16th January 2020 for projects taking place between 1st April 2020 and 30th April 2021.

Pebble Grants – The Rank Foundation

Funding is available for UK registered charities and recognised churches who are raising money for projects where the total project cost is less than £1million. The project must be for the benefit of UK residents, rather than visitors to the UK.

If you are raising money for a particular project for which the mainstay is capital costs (building work, refurbishment or the purchase of long-term equipment) or a one-off short-term activity (such as an annual respite break or holiday for disadvantaged young people) you may be eligible for this.

Your organisation must have an annual income of less than £500,000 and have already raised a third of the total project costs.

The Rank Foundation are accepting applications up to the 19th December 2019 for the January 2020 trustees’ meeting. https://rankfoundation.com/pebble-grants/
