Village Hall Improvement Grant Fund – Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE)

The Autumn 2018 budget announced that, to mark the centenary of the Armistice, the Government would support several initiatives, including making available grant funding to support improvement projects for village halls.

The grant funding will be managed by ACRE on behalf of Defra with support from the ACRE Network.

The grant aims to help fund the updating and refurbishment of village halls so that they are fit for purpose and provide activities which seek to achieve one or more of the following outcomes for their communities:

  • Improved health and wellbeing/reduction in loneliness
  • Demonstrates a positive impact on the environment
  • Supports the local rural economy

There will be greater emphasis given to applications who have already secured most of the funding.

The scheme will fund up to 20% of eligible costs, with a minimum grant of £10,000 and a maximum grant of £75,000 payable. This means overall scheme costs would be between £50,000 and £375,000.

Cash 4 Clubs

Cash 4 Clubs is a sports funding scheme giving clubs the chance to apply for grants to improve facilities, purchase new equipment, gain coaching qualifications, and invest in the sustainability of their club.

They have a passion for supporting local sports clubs and recognise the power that sport can have in communities to enhance local pride and support healthy lifestyles.

The Cash 4 Clubs scheme has given out sports grants to many deserving recipients and is committed to funding even more sports clubs in the future. With awards of £500, £750 and £1000 available, Cash 4 Clubs gives away real money that can help your club.

Any sports club can apply as long as they are registered with their sport’s National Governing Body or local authority.

Funding is given to clubs on a discretionary basis, with a wide range of applications considered.  Whether it’s an underwater camera for monitoring swimming technique, the re-surfacing of a tennis court, new kit for your rugby or netball team or extra training for your coaches, there is a very open policy to what they will consider.

Grants are chosen once a year by a diverse judging panel, who will consider funding based on many things including the quality and creativity of the application, the need for funding and the core aims of the club.  The fund is currently closed for applications whilst this year’s awards are assessed.  Please check their website for details of when the fund reopens: https://cash-4-clubs.com/about

Making your application pop by using a video to show off your club and its members is a great idea to stand out from the crowd.  You can either upload a video with your application or attach a video you have uploaded to YouTube.

That bit at the end!

North Devon Voluntary Service (NDVS)

FREE TRAINING Making Every Contact Count (MECC) – Healthy Conversation Skills

4th July 10am – 1pm at The Voice, Barnstaple

(contact NDVS re other sessions across the region)

MECC is about taking opportunities to make a difference to people’s health and wellbeing. By supporting people to make changes to their lifestyles it is possible to prevent ill-health, improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities.

MECC supports organisations and individuals to develop a different way of working with people to address their health and wellbeing. Telling people what to do is not the most effective way to help them change.

This training is for Frontline staff and volunteers who are involved in short interactions with people in their community or in their organisation, e.g. receptionists, advisers, library/sports/community centre staff, social sports or lunch clubs…

Please book via Eventbrite at: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk//making-every-contact-count

The courses are free but spaces are limited, so booking is essential.
