Do you want to play a key role in the future of Ilfracombe and Lynmouth Harbours? Recruitment of two independent members to the Harbour Board (Voluntary positions, includes expenses only) North Devon Council is looking for two high calibre Board members with the knowledge, drive, and enthusiasm to take up the challenge of managing the Ilfracombe and Lynmouth harbours and their immediate environment. The Harbour Board is responsible for the management of Ilfracombe and Lynmouth harbours and will meet at least every three months. The Board’s duties include preparing a Development Strategy and an annual business plan for the harbours, monitoring compliance with the Port Marine Safety Code and consulting harbour users and other stakeholders. Board members use their skills and experience for the long-term benefit of the harbours and must be committed to working in its best interests rather than for any particular stakeholder group. Applicants should be familiar with the workings of a harbour and its operational environment. It is highly desirable that you either have a Master Mariner qualification or equivalent or qualifications in administration and/or financial management. You should also have a broad experience in two or more of the following fields:
