Delivering one or more of the following outcomes:
Loans for Enlightened Agriculture Programme (LEAP)– Deadline 30 April 2019The Loans for Enlightened Agriculture Programme (LEAP) offers a mix of affordable loans and grants to farming and food enterprises along with a comprehensive mentoring programme. These are for community-based food and farming businesses with an ethical and sustainable ethos. LEAP is a new model for financing and supporting food and farming enterprises that puts people and the biosphere at the heart of our food system. LEAP will provide a critical next step for community based agro-ecological enterprises that have relied on grant funding to date and who have had nowhere to go to finance their onward development. LEAP has been set up by the Funding Enlightened Agriculture (FEA) network which supports projects that have the potential to increase agricultural output, adopt sustainable farming methods, create local supply chains, increase employment and engagement, revive local economies and bring other social benefits. It supports cooperatives, social enterprises and community businesses that are at an early stage of development but have already built up their local community of support. It is for food and farming enterprises such as community bakeries, box schemes, growers and producers, retailers, markets and Community Supported Agriculture schemes. Loans can be for amounts between 25,000 pounds and 100,000 pounds and can be used for capital or revenue. Alongside the loan, the programme provides a grant at 18 percent of the loan amount and a tailored and structured mentoring package. http://www.feanetwork.org/our-projects/loans-for-enlightened-agriculture-programme
Triangle Trust 1949 Fund – Unpaid Carers - Deadline 7 May 2019 (Noon)The Triangle Trust offers funding for specialist community and voluntary organisations working with carers in the UK. Roughly 1 in 10 people are unpaid carers supporting a family member or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or addiction problems. Carers say access to information, financial support and respite care are essential to help them maintain their own health and quality of life, but this basic support is not always available. The Triangle Trustees recognise the enormity of the task voluntary organisations have in reaching out to carers and offer dedicated funding for carer organisations where they will not have to compete with applications from other sectors. Development grants up to 80,000 pounds over 3 years are available to registered charities, social enterprises and community interest companies whose primary purpose is to support unpaid carers. Grants are to be used for core funding to support organisations to implement a step change in their development and therefore build increased sustainability. That bit at the end!Are you renting in the private sector?Or – are you a private sector landlord?Standards of housing within the private rental sector can be poor due to the unbalanced nature of the local housing market, with some landlords not looking after their tenants the way they should. North Devon Council are proposing to introduce civil penalties for landlords for certain housing offences as an alternative to prosecution. This could help raise standards in the private rented sector and improve our housing service by providing a revenue stream for the council. To have your say, take part in a quick online consultation at northdevon.gov.uk/rent-consultation By participating you’ll be in with a chance to win a 25 pounds cash prize.
