Waters' Edge Visitor Centre & Country Park Christmas gift & food fair is ready to spoil your taste buds this weekend. There will be delicious traditional Christmas snacks, sweet treats and drinks, as well as handcrafted gift items for friends and loved ones this Christmas.
The two day fair is free to attend and will take place from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November.

Brand-new soft play area opens in St John's Market in Scunthorpe
Families can enjoy a bright and colourful market-themed play area when they visit St John's Market in Scunthorpe since it recently opened.
The indoor facility is open 10am to 5pm every Tuesday to Saturday and is suitable for babies, toddlers and children up to eight years.

Applications for two-year-old funding are open for next term
If your child is two or turns two on or before 31 December 2023 you might be entitled to the two-year-old funding.
If the funding is granted, your child can enjoy up to 15 hours of fun each week. They will be supported into a routine, learn how to follow simple instructions, make choices, take turns, and expand their vocabulary through story time and songs.

Get your electric blanket tested ready for winter
We are offering residents the chance to have their electric blankets tested free of charge in readiness for the colder months.
Whilst electric blankets are one of the best solutions to keep warm, they also represent a potential fire hazard due to old age or malfunctions and account for around 1,000 fires each year.
Get your blanket tested on Tuesday 21 November in St John’s Market between 8.30am and 3.30pm. There is no need to book, but there may be a wait at busy times.
Meet the illustrator of popular book series Winnie the Witch
Join multi-million selling illustrator Korky Paul, best known as the illustrator of the ‘Winnie the Witch’ series, for this family-friendly event full of energy, wit and enthusiasm.

Free car seat safety session available in Scunthorpe this month
Experts from the Good Egg car safety team are coming to Tesco on Gallagher retail park in Scunthorpe on Thursday 16 November, between 10am and 3pm.
Parents can get their child's car seat checked for free and professionals will be on hand to provide a range of advice and information and ensure your little people are sitting safely.

The fostering team are looking for new foster carers to offer short breaks to children and young people with disabilities and additional needs.
A North Lincolnshire Short Breaks+ foster carer, said, “It’s a very different type of fostering and isn’t always children in care – you build a relationship with their family as well. It is incredibly fulfilling, and you are giving the extra support to keep that family together.”
