Two-year-old integrated assessment

Our integrated two-year-old assessment systems in North Lincolnshire work well and provide highly valuable information as an important part of early identification.

Following liaison with our health visiting colleagues about the integrated two-year-old assessment, we have identified ways that this process could be strengthened further and as such have made minor updates to the procedures that all early years settings and childminders should follow.

Please follow links to the new procedures for both physical and virtual assessments.

Please can we draw your attention to the two aspects of the procedure that have been updated:

1. Please can all early years settings and childminders contact their named community nursery nurse by the end of the term to inform them of ALL the children who will be two at any point within the following term. This allows both setting and community nursery nurse sufficient time to plan the integrated two-year-old assessment for those children who will be two and ensure that this can be done in a physically integrated way

2. Please call the early years team AND community nursery nurse if any further child aged between two and three years begins at your setting. Please also inform both the early years team AND community nursery nurse if any child aged two and three leaves your setting. Please can this be done within 14 days. We hope that the above additions will strengthen partnership working, early identification and ensure that as many integrated two-year-old assessments are able to be carried out physically as possible.

The early years team can be contacted on 01724 296650. Community nursery nurses can be contacted using these mobile phone numbers.

Please can we also remind everyone to share a copy of the child's two-year-old assessment when a child transitions to another setting and / or when they begin school.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of the two-year-old assessment further, please contact your early years development officer or SEND officer.

Many thanks for your help with this.

School Readiness

School Readiness

We would like to invite you to have a stall at the Let's Get Ready for School event at the Baths Hall (Scunthorpe) on Saturday 20th May 2023, from 10am-3pm. The event is for all children and families living in North Lincolnshire who are due to start school reception in September 2023. If you would like to attend to promote your setting and support your families with transition, please complete the Booking Form to reserve your space. We have found at previous events the whole family attend so there may be opportunity to attract younger siblings to your settings.

Postcards for families of children starting school in September are currently being delivered, if you could please share with relevant families and encourage them to attend the event.

At the event families are able to speak with a range of professionals such as Health Visitors, Community Nursery Nurses, Community and Family Learning, community Dental service, and schools, who will all provide advice, support and guidance around starting school. In addition, there are children's activities including storytelling, arts and crafts and a goody bag for the first 140 children, which includes a copy of a book about starting school.

If you have any questions or would like more information about the Let's Get Ready for School event, please contact a member of the Early Years Team, via email – earlyyearsteam@northlincs.gov.uk.
