The Haven is a new project offering out of hours mental health support at Scunthorpe and District Mind. The project aims to offer a safe space for people who are feeling overwhelmed and unable to cope and is staffed by trained mental health support workers. The Haven will offer a range of activities such as relaxation, art, board games etc to help people relax and unwind and will also provide 1:1 support to offer a listening ear, support to develop more effective coping strategies and support to access help from other appropriate agencies. . The Haven will be open 6pm to 12pm on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings and people requiring support can phone on 01724 279500 or just call into Scunthorpe and District Mind, Printers Yard, Fenton Street, Scunthorpe, DN15 6QX. In an emergency, please call the North Lincolnshire Crisis Team 01724 382015.
The aim of the project is to prevent people reaching crisis point and to help them access the support they need, rather than struggling to find help and turning to the emergency services when they can no longer cope. It is open to people over the age of 16 living or registered with a GP in North Lincolnshire. The Haven isn’t suitable for those under 16, people under the influence of illicit substances or for people experiencing a major mental health crisis.

Caring for someone can be a rewarding experience, but it can also be lonely, boring, frustrating, frightening and stressful. A Carer Peer Support Group can offer the empathetic support that only another Carer can give.
Groups meet regularly throughout North Lincolnshire. They are a great way to meet other Carers, socialise, develop friendships and share information.
There are some groups that focus on a particular group of Carers such as parent Carers and some groups may focus on a particular condition such as the Dementia Peer Support Group, other groups are there for any Carer in a particular area of North Lincolnshire.
You will be made very welcome at any of the support groups.
Talk to the Carers’ Support Service if you feel that you cannot attend a group because of your caring role.
For more information visit the Carers' Support Service website, call them on 01652 650585 or email info@carerssupportcentre.com

Pharmacists are experts in medicines who can help you with minor health concerns.
As qualified healthcare professionals, they can offer clinical advice and over-the-counter medicines for a range of minor illnesses, such as coughs, colds, sore throats, tummy trouble and aches and pains.
If symptoms suggest it's something more serious, pharmacists have the right training to make sure you get the help you need. For example they will tell you if you need to see a GP.
All pharmacists train for five years in the use of medicines. They are also trained in managing minor illnesses and providing health and wellbeing advice.
Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You don't need an appointment – you can just walk in.
Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
Find a pharmacy near you.

One of the greatest challenges in later life is beating loneliness and social isolation. Loneliness isn't necessarily about being alone, though it can be. It's also about not having the right meaningful connections in our lives. Anyone can feel lonely. It can happen at any age, whether in relationship, or surrounded by a large family. It's about the quality and meaning that we find when relating to another person or group.
The effects of loneliness go much deeper than the immediate feeling of isolation. For older people it can contribute to depression, stroke, high blood pressure, cognitive decline and more.
To enjoy a fulfilling and healthy later life, it's important to take steps to minimise the risk of becoming isolated.
If you feel lonely already, there are things you can do to feel better again. It may seem daunting at first, but small changes can make a difference.
Visit the Adult Information Hub website for more information and ideas of coping with loneliness. The What's On guide contains information about groups and activities you can get involved in.
The Independent Age website also has lots of advice on loneliness, including their Friendship Service and many other subjects.

Since the gallery’s doors first opened in 2001 we have developed a great reputation for offering a varied and exciting exhibition programme of contemporary art. Our venue shows around 20 exhibitions per year, across six exhibition spaces, and we aim to be as ambitious and creatively diverse with our shows as possible. As well as bringing arts and culture to the local community, we also aim to show art by groups that are under represented in mainstream galleries and the art world.
Encompassing a wide range of media, subjects and artistic approaches, we present a mixture of in-house curated exhibitions, touring shows and exhibitions developed in partnership with fellow creative organisations. We also produce and deliver our own touring exhibitions to other galleries nationally, and offer an extensive education programme for all ages and abilities.
