On Wednesday 12 September we held the second of our teddy bear’s tea parties as part of the year long celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the Family Information Service.
Thank you to everyone that came down to The Arc Westcliff and had a go at ‘Clubbercise’ with Penny, pottery painting with the guys from ‘Let’s Go Potty’, teddy bear biscuit decorating, giant Connect 4 or who visited any of our information stalls.
Our very own bear RuFIS had lots of fun meeting you all and of course your own bears!
Congratulations to Angie who won the first prize of a voucher for afternoon tea in the café at The Arc Westcliff and Chloe who won second prize of a £10 voucher to spend in the café.
Both ladies correctly told us the code word to enter into the event was ‘RuFIS’!

Do you know a young person who is passionate about
expressing the views of their generation and making a difference in their
community?
The Youth Elections are a democratic process to elect a
local Young Mayor and Member of Youth Parliament (MYP). Any young person aged
11 to 17 who lives, works or goes to school/college in the area can stand for
election. The Youth Elections will take place in February 2019 and ballot boxes
will be distributed in schools, colleges and settings across North
Lincolnshire.
What does a Young Mayor do?
They are serving members of the North Lincolnshire Youth
Council and work alongside the MYP and other Youth Council members. They act as
a role model and promote mutual respect and they are a first point of contact
for local young people to get their views heard.
They highlight and champion
the positive contributions that young people make to their communities and they
initiate and lead projects on behalf of young people. They also raise awareness
of young voice opportunities and promote intergenerational working.
What does a MYP do?
They are serving members of the North
Lincolnshire Youth Council and work alongside the Young Mayor and other Youth
Council members. They meet regularly with other MYPs to hold debates and plan
campaigns at venues including the House of Commons.
