Will you need someone to care for your child before or after school or pre-school and drop them off or pick them up because you are at work?
Do you want your little one to access the educational and social benefits of attending a nursery, pre-school or childminder from September?
The Family Information Service can help you find the right childcare provider to meet your needs.
Call us on 01724 296629 or email fis@northlincs.gov.uk to receive a personalised list of local childcare providers by email or post.
We can also advise you about the different schemes available to help parents and carers with the costs of childcare including Tax Free Childcare, which nearly all parents can get.
Check out our help with childcare costs web page.
All children who turn three on or before 31 August are automatically eligible for 15 hours of funded childcare per week from September.
You can contact your preferred childcare provider now to check they have a place available for September and arrange the funding with them. If you do not know which provider you want to use you can call us on 01724 296629 or email fis@northlincs.gov.uk to find out what is available in your area.
Working parents may be eligible to increase their funded hours up to a maximum of 30 hours per week but you need to act now!

|
To apply for the 30 hours you must set up a Government Gateway account on the Childcare Service website and apply online.
To take advantage of the 30 hours from September you should apply as soon as possible as, if successful, you will be issued with an 11 digit code which you must take to your chosen childcare provider as soon as possible for them to verify before the funding can start.
Failure to get your code before 31 August will result in you having to wait until January to use the funding.

Re-confirming your eligibility
If you have already accessed the 30 hours funding for your three or four year old and wish this to continue in September, please do not forget to re-confirm you are still eligible every three months or your funding will stop.
You can do this by logging in to your Government Gateway account. If you have any difficulties call the Childcare Service helpline on 0300 1234097.

Are you a childminder, nanny, childminding assistant or want to work with children in a home-based environment?
Our Early Years Team offer a Level 3 qualification to support and further your knowledge around caring for children in a home setting.
Our congratulations go to the latest group of childminders and assistants to achieve the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Award Preparing to Work in Home Based Childcare.
(pictured above are Natalie Rix, Baljeet Randhawa and Melissa Simpson)
Support was provided to them by the Early Years team through workshops, e mail/telephone and home visits, all of which enabled the learners to build a portfolio of evidence (no exams or tests) which was assessed and certificated by the NCFE CACHE awarding body.
The scope of the qualification from child development to legislation built on and further developed delegate knowledge. Many of the participants had previously attended our Introduction to Home Based Childcare course (IHBC).
In the words of some of the learners: ‘The course built on my existing knowledge and understanding’, ‘I thought I knew a lot about children’s learning, behaviour and development. I have learnt so much more from doing this course.’
The Early Years team wish all the recent achievers every success in their future careers as childminders and childminding assistants.
The next NCFE CACHE Preparing to Work in Home Based Childcare course starts on Monday 17 September 2018. The cost of the course is £160 plus awarding body registration fee. Payments can be made by: cash, cheque, and credit card and an instalment option is available.
Please call 01724 296650 either for more information or to book a place.
