Although most of us welcome the summer sun, high temperatures can be harmful to your health. The heat can affect anyone, but some people run a greater risk of serious harm. As our climate changes, hot spells are expected to be more frequent and more intense.
Read the Public Health England; Beat the Heat leaflet, to see how to stay safe in hot weather, including how to keep your home cool. It tells you who is at greatest risk of ill health from the heat, how to recognise when you or someone’s health may be affected, and what to do if you or someone else becomes unwell as a result of the heat.
Further useful information is available on the NHS Choices website.

Befriending Service
There are times when we feel vulnerable, perhaps following
some bad news, and feel the need for some informal support from someone who
understands. If you are an unpaid Carer then our Bon Ami Friendship Service
could fulfil that need.
Most of us have friends and family but do not always feel
that we can talk to them. A befriender is someone in whom you can confide
knowing that you will not be judged or criticised and that your feelings and
opinions are important.
Sometimes getting involved with new things, such as going to
the Community Wellbeing Hubs or one of our Carer Support Groups, can be a
daunting experience, especially if you haven’t done anything for a while or you
lack confidence.
Again, one of our volunteer befrienders can come along to
support you in the first few weeks while you meet people and become more at
ease with a new group or activity.
This service is free and confidential.
