physical and mental health needs and will offer you the opportunity to discuss
the following:
- Carer Breaks
- Benefits Checks
- Learning and Leisure
Opportunities
- Carer Support Groups
- Emergency Planning

- Events
- Training
An assessment of your needs will offer you the
help you need so that you can either carry on caring or plan for future
care. Further information is available on the council website or

Living a healthy lifestyle in mid-life can double your
chances of being healthy at 70 and beyond. In the UK it is estimated that
physical inactivity causes 17% of premature deaths from various causes
including coronary heart disease, some cancers and Type 2 Diabetes.
Making small changes now can improve your health right away
and double your chances of staying healthy as you get older. For more
information visit North Lincolnshire Council’s Health Campaign webpage and click on ‘One You’ which is a campaign
aimed at adults particularly those who are 40-60 years of age.
North Lincolnshire Council Leisure Services will be attending the 'Health Matters' event on 10 August (see previous article) offering
Functional Fitness MOT’s to older adults 50+. The MOT uses simple physical
exercises including hand grip strength test to give older adults an idea of how
their fitness compares to their peers. There will also be the opportunity to find
out about what physical activities are offered in the area. If you are unable to attend but would like to
know more about opportunities for physical activity visit the Leisure Services webpage.

There are a few days remaining for people living and working in Greater Lincolnshire to have their say on proposals to create a Mayoral Combined Authority with a Directly Elected Mayor for the area.
Ten local authorities, from the Humber to the Wash, have joined together to ask for some powers, responsibilities and funding from Government to be devolved to Greater Lincolnshire, meaning more decisions on public services – including transport and housing - would be made locally, rather than at a national level.
We want your views on the scheme for the establishment of a Mayoral Combined Authority for Greater Lincolnshire. Visit www.northlincs.gov.uk/devolution to have your say. Consultation closes at 5pm on Monday 8 August.

North
Lincolnshire becomes a White Ribbon County
The council was presented with the
Town and County White Ribbon Award in July for its work in supporting
the White Ribbon campaign to prevent violence against women.
The White Ribbon Town and County
Award is a nationally recognised award that demonstrates North Lincolnshire’s
commitment to the White Ribbon campaign and to reducing domestic abuse. As well
as addressing and altering social norms that lead to violent behaviour against
women, involving men in prevention activities, increasing awareness on the
issue and providing services aimed at reducing the incidence of domestic abuse.
Now North Lincolnshire has become a
White Ribbon County, the council will continue to pledge to support the work of
the White Ribbon campaign and ‘never commit, excuse or remain silent about
violence against women’.
You can find out more about what the White Ribbon
County Award means for North Lincolnshire on the council website

There was a great atmosphere today at the Ongo Family Fun Day held at Manor Park Scunthorpe. Hundreds of people attended and the weather stayed sunny for most of the day.
There were plenty of free activities to keep the children amused and the parents happy. There were lots of information stalls from a variety of local services and providers.
Entertainment in the main ring was provided by local groups including Kimberley School of Dance and the Scunthorpe Pipe Band. Children were facinated by the dog agility group and the batton twilers.
Well done Ongo, another successful event.
