Festive holiday arrangements for services

Council offices will be closed to the public from Friday 25 December 2020 until Tuesday 5 January 2021. 

There are some exceptions, such as Registration Offices. Information and services can be accessed online at or calling the contact numbers detailed below.

First Stop Shops

All First Stop Shops and Municipal Banks will be closed from Friday 25 December 2020 until Tuesday 5 January 2021.

Registration Services

Registration staff will be available to contact by telephone and email to register deaths remotely, with no face-to-face appointments being taken. Please calling the following numbers on the specified dates.

• The Airdrie Registration Office will be open on Tuesday 29 December 2020 from 9am until 4pm (contact number is 01236 758080)
• The Cumbernauld Registration Office will be open on Wednesday 30 December 2020 from 9am until 4pm (contact telephone number is 01236 632740)
• The Motherwell Registration Office will be open on Thursday 31 December 2020 from 9am until 4pm (contact telephone number is 01698 302206).

Please note that due to statutory timescales only death registrations are being carried out.

Waste services

Due to public holidays on Friday 25 December and Saturday 26 December 2020 and Friday 1 January and Saturday 2 January 2021, all kerbside waste and recycling collections, excluding food/garden collections, scheduled to take place on these days will be rescheduled:

• Collections due on Friday 25 December will be collected on Thursday 24 December 2020;
• Collections due on Saturday 26 December will be collected on Sunday 27 December 2020;
• Collections due on Friday 1 January 2021 will be collected on Thursday 31 December 2020; and
• Collections due on Saturday 2 January 2021 will be collected on Sunday 3 January 2021.

No food/garden collections will be carried out between Monday 21 December 2020 and Sunday 3 January 2021. Please do not present your brown bin for collection during this period. It will be collected on the next fortnightly cycle.

There will be no Special Uplift Service between Monday 21 December 2020 and Sunday 3 January 2020. Uplift requests, including the free uplift of real Christmas trees, (with all decorations removed), can still be placed during this time by telephoning 01698 403110.

All Household Waste Recycling Centres will be closed on Friday 25 December and Friday 1 January 2021.
