Holiday arrangments for council services

Council offices will be closed to the public from Wednesday 25 December 2019 to Friday 3 January 2020. 

However, some services are available over the holiday period and details are given here. 

Social Work Locality Offices

Social Work offices will be open on 27, 30 and 31 December 2019 and 3 January 2020.

Between 25 and 26 December 2019 and 1 and 2 January 2020, contact can be made with the Social Work Emergency Service (SWES) on 0800 121 4114 or Home Support on 0300 555 0408.

The Scottish Welfare Fund (Crisis Grants & Community Care Grants) can be contacted on 0300 555 0405.

Waste Solutions

Due to public holidays on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 December 2019 and Wednesday 1 January and Thursday 2 January 2020, kerbside waste and recycling collections, excluding food/garden collections, which are scheduled for these days will be rescheduled to:

• collections due on Wednesday 25 December will be collected on Tuesday 24 December
• collections due on Thursday 26 December will be collected on Friday 27 December
• collections due on Wednesday 1 January will be collected on Tuesday 31 January
• collections due on Thursday 2 January will be collected on Friday 3 January

No food/garden collections will operate on 25 and 26 December and 1 and 2 January. If your brown bin collection is due on any of these days, please do not present your bin for collection; it will be collected on the next cycle. All brown bin collections outwith these days will be collected as normal.

No Special Uplift Service will operate between Saturday 21 December 2019 and Sunday 5 January 2020. Uplift requests, including the free uplift of real Christmas trees (with all decorations removed), can still be placed during this time by contacting our environmental helpline on 01698 403110.

All Household Waste Recycling Centres will be closed on Wednesday 25 December 2019 and Wednesday 1 January 2020.

Registration Services

Registration Offices will be closed, with the following exceptions:

• The Motherwell Registration Office will be open on Friday 27 December 2019 from 9am until 4pm (contact telephone number is 01698 302206).
• The Cumbernauld Registration Office will be open on Monday 30 December 2019 from 9am until 4pm (contact telephone number is 01236 632740)
• The Airdrie Registration Office will be open on Tuesday 31 December 2019 from 9am until 4pm (contact number is 01236 758080)

An appointment system will be in operation. Please call to arrange an appointment. 

Please note, due to legislative time scales, death registrations will be given priority.

First Stop Shops

All First Stop Shops and Municipal Banks will be closed from Wednesday 25 December 2019 until Friday 3 January 2020.
