Know your consumer rights when returning goods

Christmas presents

If you’re planning to return any Christmas gifts, we have useful information for you on your consumer rights.

Our Trading Standards service advises that you have statutory rights under contracts when buying goods: they must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose.

Consumer advice for North Lanarkshire residents is provided by the Citizens Advice Consumer Service, a telephone and online consumer advice service, which is supported by local authorities in Scotland and Citizens Advice Scotland.

If you have any concerns about a product you’ve bought - either on-line or in a store – you can contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 03454 040506 or on-line
