Winter schools and roads information at your fingertips

Kilsyth winter

Our winter web pages contain a range of information about council services affected by the winter weather as well as advice on staying safe.

We always try to keep schools open to minimise disruption for families and communities, but in the event of any disruption to local schools, we will post online and via our Facebook and Twitter pages. Individual schools have their own email or text services to alert parents, so make sure the school has your up-to-date contact details.

We publish daily updates on the weather forecast and if our gritters are treating the roads network. There is also information about which roads and paths we treat, and you can find where the nearest grit bins are in your neighbourhood.

The web pages contain practical advice on avoiding condensation and burst pipes in your home during cold weather, and there’s links to the utility services for more information on keeping your house safe and warm during winter.

For older residents, we have information about eligibility for cold weather and winter fuel payments and the Warm Home Discount Scheme.

So for useful tips and advice on keeping safe and warm at home and on the roads this winter, visit our winter web pages or check out the Scottish Government’s Ready Scotland web site.
