Every pupil and member of staff at Calderhead High School has been allocated to a House, which they will remain attached to throughout their time at Calderhead High School. The Houses are Burns, Fleming, Lochhead and Wallace and here you can see S2 pupils Adam, Caitlyn, Matthew and Robbie proudly displaying their new house badges.

The whole school participated in an Interhouse Quiz on 21 September. Fleming House won and House Captain, Lauren, and Miss Phee were presented with the Quiz Cup by Mr Graham and Mr Robertson. The House Captains for Lochhead House were also presented with the Sports Cup as Lochhead won the most prizes at our school Sports Day in June. The next Interhouse event (Cross Country) will take place on 14th October 2016.

Pupils in the 4th Year Achieve Group at Calderhead High School are taking part in a Community Art Project in Shotts Nature Park in partnership with Central Scotland Green Network Trust, CCI Scotland, and Shotts Nursery.
The project aims to tidy up and landscape the area, and help design and make an 8ft x 5ft Green Man mask. The pupils will be working with artist, Shirley Tiscali, and with children from the Nursery.

S1 and S2 pupils participated against schools from all over Scotland in the Regional Finals of the first ever National Young People’s Poetry Slam on Thursday, 29th September 2016 at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh. In the weeks leading up to the competition, over 40 pupils participated in poetry and performance workshops, led by poet, Jenny Lindsay.
Three individual poets (Amy, Liam and Sahand) and a group team (Ayesha, Jennifer, Jenny, Kayla, Kiera, Murron, Rhiannon and Sophie) were then chosen to represent the school. They were up against some very stiff competition and narrowly missed getting through to the National Finals but the standard of poetry and performance from our pupils was fantastic (together with some spirited encouragement from their Calderhead High supporters!)
School Captains, Andrew and Rachael, together with staff and Prefects, organised a coffee morning and non-uniform day in aid of MacMillan Cancer
Support on Thursday, 22nd September. They also held a “Guess How Many Spots on
the Cake” competition and raffle, which helped raise £570.45 for this great
cause.
Staff and pupils also participated in the St
Andrew’s Hospice Lanarkshire Schools 6K event at Strathclyde Park event on
Sunday, 18th September. The School is proud to support St Andrew’s Hospice and
carries out a number of fundraising events throughout the year, including the
6k event and an annual coffee morning. Each House in the School has nominated a
Hospice Ambassador.
There are some great clubs and groups available at lunchtime
and after school at Calderhead High School, including art and design, arts and crafts, badminton, band, basketball, book group, choir, fitness suite, fitness for girls, football, French, guitar,
