Get ready for winter

Winter snight scene

Winter is just around the corner so now is the time to prepare.

This is the first in a series of newsletters with advice and information over the winter months.

By acting now, you can prevent problems when the winter weather arrives.

For example:

  • Put an emergency kit in your car, including a blanket, torch and snacks
  • Keep a stock of essentials at home, including medicines and baby food
  • Take care of family members and neighbours who may need support during severe weather
  • Make a list of emergency contacts for your gas, electricity and water suppliers and keep mobile phones charged in case of a power cut
  • Find your nearest grit bin and help keep your pavements and drives clear.

You'll see below some telephone numbers which you may find useful.
