We're making progress with our new digital service, plan and manage health and care research. With each new release, we're making practical improvements that respond to user feedback, deliver more value for users, and help make the service clearer, simpler and easier to use.
This work also supports a more joined-up environment for health and care research. It's an important contributor to helping the UK become Europe’s leading life sciences economy by 2030, and to making sure high-quality research can happen more efficiently for the benefit of patients, the public and the wider health and care system.

We've recently released additional functionality for existing users of plan and manage health and care research. This is another important step in the continued development of the service and lays the foundation for future development.
This release made the service more flexible, clearer, and easier to use.

Our latest release means researchers can add collaborators, so more than one person can access and manage projects. This means that chief investigators can now access and manage projects directly in the service.
We have written to all chief investigators who are involved in projects that have been added to plan and manage health and care research to ask you to register so that you can start using the service.

The next release for plan and manage health and care research is in September. This will allow the service to accept modifications that require a REC-only review for the first time (excluding research tissue banks and research databases).
At this stage, the service is still only available for invited users only.

We're inviting additional sponsors from across the UK who will start to use plan and manage health and care research to make changes to existing eligible studies. These sponsors have been selected based on the number and type of studies in their portfolio.
We're also working closely with Research Ethics Committees across the UK to identify volunteers to start using the service in September.
If you've not heard from us or been told by your sponsor that you can use the new service, please continue to manage your studies as usual. More information, including when the new service will be available to more people, is coming soon.
