Celebrating International Clinical Trials Day 2025
Today we are proud to be celebrating International Clinical Trials Day.
Clinical trials are a vital part of efforts to develop new treatments, devices and methods of care.
We’re in the early stages of the implementation period for the UK’s updated clinical trial regulations, which represents the most significant update to the regulations in 20 years.
With all these changes the next 12 months will be an important period for clinical trials in the UK.
Guidance to support the updated clinical trial regulations
Thank you to everyone who shared feedback on our draft of the guidance to accompany the updated clinical trial regulations.
The guidance will explain what will change in terms of processes, legal requirements and expectations to help researchers and sponsors prepare for when the regulations come into force in April 2026.
We received more than 800 comments which we are in the final stages of working through.
In the next few weeks, we will be publishing the guidance on the HRA website.
Once published there will be a further opportunity for you to give feedback which will be used to update the guidance later in the year.
