Keeping your information and data safe is important to us. During July and August, we’re introducing the one-time passcode (OTP) to improve security for systems accessed via the NIHR Identity Gateway. These include our IRAS services for e-submission of amendments, online REC booking and combined review applications. The change also applies to NIHR and CRN services, including the Central Portfolio Management System (CPMS).
This means when you attempt to sign into these systems, the email address linked to your account will be sent an OTP from identity@nihr.ac.uk.
The OTP is an automatically generated 6-digit code and you’ll need to use it to sign in within 15 minutes. Once you’ve signed in with your OTP, you will normally be able to access systems connected to the NIHR Identity Gateway for 30 days without an OTP.
Preparing for the changes
We’re making these changes in a staged approach (one system at a time), to minimise any impact to our user community. For the latest information, look out for notices when you sign in.
What to do now:
- Check that you have access to the email account linked to the IRAS account, so you can receive the one-time passcode
- If the email address you use to access your account has changed, you should sign into your account and update it. If you don’t, you may not be able to access the account after these changes
For more information on OTP and how it works, visit the NIHR's IDG news page.
