Consultation: changing the way we involve you in our decision making
We can make better decisions by working with a diverse group of people with lived experience and need your help to shape how we do this.
Working with our Community Insight Group we’ve come up with some proposals for how we can work differently to involve more people in how we make decisions. We’d now like your thoughts on the proposals.
Our online consultation is open until 4 December. Read the blog from our Director of Policy and Partnerships, Becky Purvis to find out more.
Supporting developers to access data and get the right approvals
We’ve created a step-by-step overview, and glossary and outlined the legal requirements to guide you through the process for accessing health and social care data for research.
Data-driven technologies have significant potential to improve health and social care. These technologies are powered by information, and the legal and policy frameworks governing processing of health and care information can be complex.
By considering the privacy, legal and ethical aspects of using health and social care data early it will be easier to navigate regulations.

Streamlining applications to access data
As part of work to streamline our processes we’re trialling a new application process for studies that need both Confidentiality Advisory Group (CAG) advice and a Research Ethics Committee (REC) opinion.
Our new joined up approvals are proving to be quicker and simpler overall than when the applications are submitted separately. But we need more people to test the process and feedback to us on their experience.
Are you preparing to submit applications to CAG and REC? Find out how you can get involved.
New Director of Policy and Partnerships
We’re delighted to announce that after a highly competitive external recruitment process, Becky Purvis has been appointed Director of Policy and Partnerships.
Becky has been our Deputy Director and latterly Interim Director for Policy and Partnerships. She has previously worked in policy development with science and health, for the Royal Society, Association of Medical Research Charities and in parliament
 Keeping in touch
The social media landscape is changing, and we want to make sure that you always know how and where to find trusted information about the HRA, and the different ways you can use to stay in touch. Our Head of Communications Eve Hart has a round up.

#StepForward
We’re inviting healthcare professionals to #StepForward and become a Research Ethics Committee member.
We're particularly interested in receiving applications from registered healthcare professionals, especially medical doctors or surgeons (currently practicing or retired), dentists, nurses, pharmacists, HCPC registered health and care professionals, social workers and clinical trial statisticians. You’ll gain a wealth of skills which can help your career.
