In January 2022 we started to automatically register clinical trials approved through combined review on the ISRCTN registry, as part of the Make it Public research transparency strategy.
In response to feedback on the process we are now making some changes to automatic registration. If a trial approved through combined review is or will be registered on ClinicalTrials.gov, you can request not to be automatically registered with ISRCTN.
Both ClinicalTrials.gov and ISRCTN feed in to Be Part of Research if UK locations are included, bringing us closer to having a full record of all UK clinical trials in one single place.
Making this change will make registration easier for sponsors and applicants and reduce the burden of having to maintain records on multiple registries. We are making a change in IRAS so that you can tell us quickly and easily if you are registering with ClinicalTrials.gov.
We will continue to streamline the process for registration with ISRCTN based on your feedback.
You can find guidance on registration of clinical trials and information about our transparency agenda on our website.
Further feedback on automatic registration is welcome. You can email us at queries@hra.nhs.uk.
