Dear Colleagues,
November sees the launch of a number campaigns including our new This Van Can cancer awareness roadshow which will be raising awareness cancer in general. It's moving around Greater Manchester over the next six months. We also have new Get Cancer Clever resources focusing on the generic, red flag symptoms that could be signs of cancer. We also have social media content for lung cancer awareness month to raise awareness of symptoms of lung cancer, promote lung cancer screening and our LungAware online tool. November also sees awareness months for mouth cancer and pancreatic cancer and shines a light on men's health with Movember. We have content you can share to raise awareness of all this as well as some exciting new breast cancer videos to encourage women from ethnic minorities to attend screening and get symptoms checked.

This Van Can .. help you get "Cancer Clever" |
|
|
We’re delighted to announce that the latest “This Van Can” is back on the road. This time it’s focusing on the generic signs and symptoms of cancer / red flags, as well as busting some cancer myths. It’s accompanied by a sister campaign “Get Cancer Clever” which uses the same messaging. We want as many residents of Greater Manchester as possible to know what to look out for, with the ambition that more cancers are diagnosed at an early stage.
Please help us promote the van as it moves around Greater Manchester. As soon as locations are confirmed, a social media pack will be produced for each event.
You can check the upcoming dates on www.thisvancan.co.uk

Our new campaign “Get Cancer Clever” is now available to share. The campaign focuses on the generic, red flag symptoms that could be signs of cancer, as well as tackling some common cancer myths.
The social media pack contains tiles in standard and reels sizes. We have also produced animated versions of each in both sizes, which work well on reels. The square animation works particularly well on Facebook.
A4 Posters are also available to support the campaign – please contact gmcancer.comms@nhs.net with your address if you would like some sending to you.

LungAware is a simple “decision tree” style tool. Users answer several straightforward questions, which ask about their age, smoking status, lung symptoms and the area of Greater Manchester in which they live.
Once this information is submitted, the tool will provide advice on next steps.
The tool has been designed by lung cancer clinicians in Greater Manchester to provide good quality, evidence-based advice in line with NICE guidance, to people who may be concerned about their symptoms, but reluctant to see seek medical advice (for a range of reasons). The tool should either reassure or encourage them to seek further healthcare advice.
Support with promotion of LungAware
As well as the social media toolkit available here, we also have posters and leaflets available if you would like to help promote the tool. Please email gmcancer.comms@nhs.net to request these items.
A social media toolkit is available to download below. Please note that it’s important that the copy and images that are paired up in each folder are used together on the correct channel, and must not be mix-and-matched. The assets are clearly labelled to make this straightforward.
