Dear All,

Thank you for all your hard work in preparation for our upcoming CQC visit. With the inspectors due to arrive imminently, below is a reminder of what you need to know, with other Trust news underneath.

CQC preparations - this week's three areas of focus

1. Core Skills training

Being up to date with our core skills training and discussing learning and development in clinical supervision helps ensure that we have the right skills and knowledge to deliver safe and effective patient care. Please make sure to:

• check your Core Skills training compliance using the training matrix
• view the training calendar to see what courses are available
• self-enrol onto a Core Skills course using ESR

2. Being aware of the Ligature Risks in our Environment

Every clinical area may contain ligature risks which cannot always be removed. Regular ligature risk audits and effective risk assessment and care planning for individual service users limits ligature risk.   Where it is not possible to remove ligature points, or when observation of patients is limited, clinical teams must identify other clinical risk management interventions, including ongoing therapeutic engagement and observations.   All ligature points should also be referred to Estates and Facilities as priorities.

3. Watch our all-staff webinar with Amanda Pithouse

Our Interim Chief Nurse, Amanda Pithouse hosted a special all-staff webinar last week with key headlines including ‘must-do’ actions. Staff were invited to share positive improvements since our last inspection and encouraged to highlight these to the inspection team.

Clinical Friday 25 March

The themes for Clinical Friday, 25 March 2022 are:    1. Physical health monitoring especially after rapid                  tranquilisation 2. Medication management, including storage 3. Monday 21 March marked International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDRVSTST) to globally unite the collective voices fighting to eliminate all forms of racism and racial discrimination. Jinjer Kandola MBE, Camden and Islington NHS FT’s (C&I) Chief Executive joined NHS leaders across the capital, on Monday 21 March, in signing an open letter thanking the majority of patients who show support to NHS staff but also warning that violence and aggression will not be tolerated.   Click the button below for more.
