The role
Reporting to Workshop Manager we have a vacancy for a Fabricator/Welder at our Chesterfield Depot (S41 0JW).
Key Duties:
• Fabrication – Cutting, shaping or moulding metal components together • Welding – weld and join metal components onto metal plates using MIG techniques • Mechanical fitting – Assembling, installing, and repairing machinery • Evaluating finished projects and performing quality checks using precision measuring instruments Full Job Description is available upon request.
Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate must be proficient and confident with fabrication tasks (MIG Welding) and welding practices. It is essential the candidate has experience operating fabrication machinery, knowledge of heavy plate fabrications would be preferable and must be able to work to tight deadlines. Candidates must possess a valid driving licence.

Part-time Swimming Instructor £13.69 to £14.91 per hour (pay award pending) 21 hours per week
North East Derbyshire District Council is inviting applications for a Swimming Teacher to join our successful Leisure Services Team.
The post is to deliver swimming lessons to all ages & abilities in accordance with the Council’s swimming tuition programme. To be successful, applicants will require the Swim England (SE) or STA Level 2 teaching certificate, the RLSS NPLQ (9th Edition) or RLSS NRASTC or willing to work towards completing this qualification, together with knowledge and experience of either the SE or STA Swimming Teaching programmes.
The post is 21 hours a week. The Council allow time for lesson preparation and clearing up for 15 minutes both prior to and following lessons. The successful candidate must be willing to work evenings & weekends in line with our popular teaching programme. We are open to job share applications.

Enforcement Officer
£26,421 - £31,364 per annum (pay award pending) 37 hours per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Enforcement Team who are dedicated to tackling environmental crime such as fly tipping, littering, dog fouling and abandoned vehicles. Our Enforcement Team also deal with reports of stray dogs in the community and kennels them when necessary.
A typical day may include:
Providing support and enforcement for local residents and businesses; Inspecting a business to ensure their commercial waste arrangements are compliant. Visiting an abandoned vehicle; Patrolling and issuing fixed penalty notices for littering or dog fouling; Capturing or receiving and transporting stray dogs following a complaint; Undertaking a Police and Criminal Evidence interview; Attending court to give evidence. As an Environmental Enforcement Officer you will work with our partners at Derbyshire Police, the Environment Agency and Derbyshire County Council as well as other Council Officers to resolve issues together, share intelligence or support their work. It’s a varied and exciting role and if you are passionate about the environment, like working outdoors and engaging with the public then this role is for you.
Whilst previous enforcement experience may be beneficial, an interest in protecting the environment and our communities, a willingness and ability to undertake additional training, excellent customer care and IT skills and the ability to communicate effectively will help you succeed. You will have use of a Council vehicle and a current full UK Driving Licence is also essential.
As you progress you will be provided technical environmental enforcement training to help us ensure we have an effective and skilled team, but also to help you develop.
Project Coordinator (Digital Connect Project) 37.5 hours p/w £26,758 p/a Fixed term (to May 2026 with possible extension)
Citizens Advice North East Derbyshire has a history of providing advice and support to our local community in accessible locations. We currently have an opportunity for someone to join our service in what is a new project to set up and deliver a service aimed to support and help those digitally excluded to improve their digital skills and learning. We have an exciting new opportunity for someone with good people skills and IT knowledge to join our friendly team.
The purpose of the role will include: • Provision of digital access, advice and training to members of the community in a variety of community locations • Raising awareness and promote the project across the geographical patch of North East Derbyshire and target group • Helping to recruit and support a team of volunteers within the project • Working in partnership with the local voluntary, community and statutory sector to develop digital access

Business Administrator Apprentice £11,648.00 Apprenticeship level Advanced Level 3 (A level) 35 hours per week Monday - Friday, 8.00am - 4.00pm (paid 1 hr lunch).
Due to our continued sales growth, and this expansion to our facility, we are now recruiting for a Business Administration Apprentice. This will be a varied, day-based role, assisting in Stock Control and Administration and reporting in to the Stock and Systems Manager. This role is warehouse based with primarily administrative duties.
What you will do in your working day

General Welder Apprentice £18,000.00 (The wage will rise to £23,210 for the second year of the apprenticeship) Monday - Thursday 07.00am - 16.00pm, Friday 07.00am - 12.00pm
To undertake and understand all aspects within both mild steel and stainless welding departments. All aspects of welding and fabrication and testing within sections.
What you will do in your working day To weld heat-exchangers, tank assemblies and sub assemblies in line with established work instructions Quality assurance in line with health and safety requirements Maintaining flexibility at all times in order to achieve production targets Any reasonable tasks set by the team leader The training you will be getting
An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage and gain valuable work experience. You will be expected to work towards the L2 General Welder Apprenticeship Standard, with support from your employer and the Chesterfield College Group.
As part of your apprenticeship, and dependent on your prior attainment, you may be required to complete maths and English Functional Skills. Upon successful completion you will be awarded certificates of recognition for these qualifications.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship Upon completion of your 2 year fixed term apprenticeship, we will endeavour to find a suitable permanent role for you within the team to further your development in the company, however this is not guaranteed.
