Making safety observations
Last year saw an increase in the number of safety observations being made by team members, who highlighted both positives and negatives across the programme, on site and in our offices.
We see this as a positive sign our PPP team is empowered to spot, act on and report concerns which we can correct and continue to learn from.
There are a number of ways you can easily record safety observations:
- Complete a printed observation card at one of the reporting stations located across our workplaces.
-
Report online via the SL-PPP Intranet.
- Scan the QR code below to report from your mobile device.
Muncaster community project given a helping hand from supply chain partners
A Muncaster based community initiative has been given a helping hand from our supply chain partners working on the SIXEP Continuity Plant (SCP) project.
The initiative which is set to support the physical and mental wellbeing of over 50s in the West Cumbria area has been given vital support to get up and running, utilising the expertise of supply chain partners Careys, PPS Electrical, Altrad, William King, Mammoet, and Severfield.
The Age UK 'community shed' project aims to help service users to 'age well' and to tackle social isolation, the declining physical and mental health of those in the local communities and to increase resources for the ageing population in the area.
The community shed will not only be a space for people to meet, but also a space to house workshops where locals can attend to learn dexterous skilled crafts including carpentry/repurposing and restoration, horticulture, and gardening.
Alan Irwin, Head of Service Development and Funding, Age UK West Cumbria:
“Ageing well means lots of things to different people. but choosing to be active and regularly connected to others is a universally proven catalyst for being healthier and happier in later life. Muncaster Shed is exactly the type of activity that builds community, independence, and dexterous skills for older people. We can’t speak highly enough of the contributions that the voluntary partners have made. They have enabled us to create a unique resource for our service users for years to come.”
Jenny Scott, Altrad Babcock Project Co-ordinator for the Muncaster Community Shed Project:
“The project was a huge success due to the fantastic effort from all involved, and the quality of workmanship illustrated throughout the project was exceptional. I would sincerely encourage others to get involved with Social Impact and help make a positive difference within the community.”

Ideas Portal showcase launched
PPP's improvement and benefits team are excited to share the launch of a new 'showcase' page on the Ideas Portal, hosted on the SL-PPP Intranet. The new space will be used to highlight the live improvements in delivery through the portal.
The Ideas Portal is an online platform used internally to submit original ideas, anything from a small idea on how to make a cost saving to multi-discipline innovative technique.
Once an idea has been taken forward for approval, the improvement and benefits team will work with the relevant subject matter experts to seek funding (where required) to implement the improvement. We want to use the Ideas Portal showcase to amplify where ideas have been taken through the approval phase and are at the stage of being implemented across the programme.
For any queries on current ideas, or if you would like to talk through a potential idea before submitting it, please email the team at ppp.ideas@sl-ppp.co.uk.
