Fixed Term for 12 months.

Due to maternity leave we currently have 2 temporary vacancies for full time Occupational Therapists in the Disabled Children’s Team, Nottingham City Council.

In this role you will be part of a multi disciplinary team delivering services to families in the north of the Nottingham City area in line with departmental policies and procedures.

The main focus of the role will be working with children and young people aged 0-19 with physical and / or learning disabilities and challenging behaviour and their families within their home environments, including foster care and short breaks placements, to enable independence, safety and access to essential facilities.

The role includes undertaking home visits to carry out needs led assessments of children, young people and their families and make appropriate recommendations for their housing needs with the provision of minor or major adaptations to the property or support with re-housing and the provision of appropriate equipment to meet their functional needs. Risk assessments where appropriate will need to be completed. Making referrals to and liaising with other professionals is required, as is undertaking duty work often jointly with social workers to respond promptly to urgent or emergency situations. You may also be required to partake in child protection work and provide information for court as required.

The post is exciting and challenging and we are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with initiative and a caring nature. You must have excellent communication skills; good planning and organisational skills; and preferably have a flexible approach to work. A commitment to provide excellent and equitable services to children, young people and families is essential. The role is very rewarding and provides an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of disabled children and their families within the city.
